about

The first leak from "Goodbye Party". Track 5. Don't keep up with Jones.

If the folks down the street can already harvest plenty of fruit from a lotus flower, don't run around claiming you're about to start selling lotus flower fruit from your front porch.

lyrics

(HB) I was born with my eyes open.
Knowing I had a job to do since I first noticed how broken this place has been.
Then, upon the recommendation of them calling themselves my friends, I hesitantly melted in and started running.
Getting the wheel spinning and powering everything just like the rest of them,
but when I would watch the other hamsters run beside me I would laugh at them.
Cackling about how much faster I could make my wheels spin, until I noticed my eyes closed and so re-opened them.
So here I lay awake again, my time will come soon, cause I took what made my hamster wheel turn and spun it into a cocoon.
I'll howl up at the moon as I'm reborn and then the torn will mend.
I'll warm the frozen, pour elixer over the resin, and make it fresh again.
Then I'll dance to death again, and resurrect myself once I begin to miss the sensation of feelings.
Then I'll invite my neighbors in, and apologize for ever trying to keep up with them.

All I know is last time my neighbor's lotus flower bore fruit, no one noticed...
('Cause the next house down already knows how to harvest those.)
So don't keep up with Jones.

Don't keep up with the Jones'.

(Dem Atlas) I'm a fool of a nuance in the new Harlem renaissance,
While drinking the dirty knots in my pot.
Avoiding the pop-lock routine,
my life is lived routinely, I try to escape this booty, and play the great Houdini.
My life has been a series of spendings and dealings wrought with sorry endings,
a heart that you lend to your friend who don't return the sorry lendings,
A balloon that burst when it hit the sky's ceiling.
Feeling most appeals to the one who lives believing that he or she is worthless, and there's no hope perceiving.
You hear the gunshot, but it's too late to tell you're bleeding.
Then you awoke from the wreckage. Tedium ready packages cut between the cabbages of dirty men, and dirty friends. And I repent.
I try to win and find some zen, in this fucking life of sin.
Got me thinking, got me wishing. Maybe if I did shit different, I wouldn't be the fucking painting of the new eccentric.

All I know is last time my neighbor's lotus flower bore fruit, no one noticed...
('Cause the next house down already knows how to harvest those.)
So don't keep up with Jones.
